Florida fans of the hit television series “Grey’s Anatomy” may have been surprised to learn that Jesse Williams, one of the stars of the show, has filed for divorce. The couple got married in September 2012, but they had been together for several years before their wedding.
Before he became an actor, Williams was a history teacher, and that is when he and his estranged wife, who is a real estate broker, first met. They made the move to Los Angeles when he decided to pursue his acting career. She has since been instrumental in the development of a GIF keyboard app.
The couple have two children. Their eldest is a 3-year-old girl, and they also have a son who is about to celebrate his second birthday. As part of his divorce filing, Williams has requested joint legal and physical custody of both of them. He has also asked that the spousal support that he had been paying after the couple separated be terminated.
Marriages come to an end for a variety of reasons, and as yet there have been no comments by either party about the proceedings. When parents of young children divorce, the issue of child custody can often be contentious. However, family law judges make these determinations based upon the best interests of the children, and absent extenuating circumstances they believe that children do best when both of their parents are part of their lives. Parents who are facing this issue may want to have their respective attorneys negotiate an agreement that will produce that result.
